Award Value of the Hong Kong Fellowship Scheme 2024-25:
Fellowship Benefits:
- Recipients receive around HK$331,200 per year (about US$42,460) for three years.
- An additional allowance of approximately HK$13,800 per year (around US$1,760) is provided for conference travel and research-related moves.
Program Extension:
- If the PhD program exceeds three years, the university offers extra support to the recipients.
Prerequisites:
- No Specific work experience is required to apply for the fellowship.

Award Requirements:
- Must be a new full-time PhD student.

- Must demonstrate prior academic study in English at your university.
- If prior education wasn’t in English, a certificate showcasing English proficiency is required.

- You need to apply to the university and also apply separately for this fellowship.
- Start by applying for the fellowship first.
- To apply for the fellowship, you have to fill out the initial application using the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme Electronic System (HKPFSES).
- When you finish the initial application step, they will give you a reference number.
- Next, step is to submit applications to the universities you’re interested in. You have the option to select up to 2 universities and 2 programs.
